چکیده
O NE OF the primary nlanifestations of tile clinical entity tropical sprue is a severe megaloblastic anemia. Although detailed descriptive information is available on tile blood and bone marrow morphology of this anenlia, its pathogenesis remains obscure.4’ The purpose of this report is to describe the quantitative aspects of red! cell production and dlestruction in this anemia. Our observations indicate that the immediate causes of tile anemia of tropical sprue are ( i ) decreased delivery of erythrocytes to the peripheral circulation because of bone marrow (lysfunction, and ( 2 ) increased clestructiOll of intrinsically defective ervthrocytes.
